Plain language first:Use SSDP for lawful purposes. Don't abuse the service. Don't harm others. We'll explain the details below, but that's the core of it.
By accessing or using any SSDP service (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Use of the Service constitutes acceptance of these terms and our Privacy Policy.
SSDP provides privacy-first file sharing, file storage, encrypted notes, and related tools. Key characteristics of the Service include zero-knowledge encryption (for encrypted products), peer-to-peer file transfer (for the Sharing product), and offline-first operation (for PMG). The specific features of each product are described on the respective product pages.
Some features require an account. SSDP accounts use private key authentication — you generate a key pair in your browser and authenticate by signing challenges with your private key. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your private key. Loss of your private key means loss of access to your account; we cannot recover it.
You may not create accounts using automated means, create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions, or impersonate others.
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You may not use the Service to:
Because our services use zero-knowledge encryption, we cannot monitor or review the content of encrypted files. We rely on user reports, metadata analysis, and hash-matching of known illegal content (where technically possible without breaking encryption) to detect abuse.
This means we may be less able to proactively detect illegal content than services that access user data. We take this responsibility seriously and work with appropriate authorities and organisations where possible within the constraints of our architecture.
Reporting: If you become aware of illegal content hosted on SSDP infrastructure, report it to abuse@ssdp.io. We will investigate and act promptly.
You retain all rights to content you upload. By using the Service, you grant SSDP a limited licence to store and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service. This licence terminates when you delete your content or close your account.
SSDP and its logo, product names, and design elements are trademarks of SSDP. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks.
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice. For significant changes affecting paid features, we will provide at least 30 days' notice and a pro-rata refund where applicable.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the Service before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation. On termination, your encrypted data will be deleted within 30 days in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted.
In particular: we are not responsible for the loss of data resulting from loss of your private key or master password. We cannot recover encrypted data without your key.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SSDP shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for direct damages shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or €100, whichever is greater.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which SSDP is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction.
For questions about these Terms: legal@ssdp.io. For abuse reports: abuse@ssdp.io. For privacy matters: privacy@ssdp.io.
These terms exist to protect both you and us. If you have questions about anything here, just ask. We're a small team with strong opinions about clarity.
